Yes use a sponge! Use the pointy type, it'll be more accurate. to save $$ I used the flat round type (a spare I had) and the effect was not as pronounced.

@anon: For smoothness the solution is to buy a really good topcoat and basecoat. For topcoat I def def def recommend Sally Hansen's Extreme Wear Mega Shine, apparently the formula has like diamond particles in it. For flawless application on the right hand, it all comes down to practice. I paint my nails every week so I've gotten pretty used to it. And still, I'm not free from the occasional clean up so yup!Denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05457686147526866064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6698100942210941949.post-73174994594685357012010-06-08T00:13:31.521+08:002010-06-08T00:13:31.521+08:00how did you manage to do your nails without any fl...how did you manage to do your nails without any flaws as in like its damn smooth? and how did you do your right hand when your a right handed?
Hope to hear from you soon. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6698100942210941949.post-46007595195692638062010-06-07T16:00:50.351+08:002010-06-07T16:00:50.351+08:00I tried this following a mini DIY tut from Refiner...I tried this following a mini DIY tut from Refinery29 and I failed big time haha! The tut said to use a topcoat to do the merging/gradient but it never worked. So! I will try yours using a sponge next time :Dmellyhttp://www.greenlaundry.net/blognoreply@blogger.com
